2016 Race Results

Waterloo has a fairly flat, fast course for the competitive runner. You could get your PR here. The family-friendly atmosphere includes runners of all ages. Doug Daeffler, Race Director, says “This is a real fun run on a competitive course. I have seen entire families do this run together. It is a really fun time!”

A new feature is that we are starting a series of shirts. If you have last year’s 150th Celebration shirt, you can continue your streak by getting this year’s 151 shirt. Keep coming back each year to collect a set of them.

The new course will begin and end at Coughlin Stadium at Waterloo High School. Daeffler said the course will go through historic Waterloo and will no longer cross Virginia Street. Runners will pass historic cemeteries, St Mary’s Church and the VFW on Wright Ave. and is fairly flat, Daeffler said.

New Course

The field has grown every year for this event, attracting runners from throughout the area. Daeffler hopes this year’s event will draw more than 400 participants.

Each participant registered by May 13th will be guaranteed a commemorative shirt for the 151st Celebration of Memorial Day. If you have the 150th shirt, you have the first in the new series of shirts and you will want to collect this series for many years. With Leone Timing, the results will be available starting soon after the first runners cross the finish line. You can register online with or mail in the application, links are provided below.

The first male and female win $100 prize money each. A separate Age Group Champion, Age Group 2nd Place and Age Group 3rd place shirt will be awarded in each of the 14 age groups categories.

Committee members for the Tribute to the Fallen include Mickey Donnelly, Janet Kraft, and Don Osborne and Carrie Bradford.  They will be joined by scores of volunteers on race day. Additional volunteers are welcome.
