Also we regret to say that due to health issues with one of the miniature horses they will not be able to provide rides at Oak Island this year.

Friday, May 27, 2016, the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War hosted a reception for Allied Orders and Special Guests at the Gridley Inn to kick off the weekends events. The evening continued at Fatzinger Hall where the Waterloo Library and Historical Society sponsored a reception for the Henry C. Welles Award winners, Ed and Laurel Callahan. The evening ended with the American Civil War Memorial Illumination and Remembrance Ceremony.
