Civil War Ball – Saturday May 14th 7:00pm Waterloo Holiday Inn

It gives us great pleasure to bring you a Civil War Era Ball, full of excellent historic value, complete with proper etiquette, dance instruction and memories to take home that will last a lifetime.  Consider yourself walking back in time to an 1860’s Ball where you can escape your typical work tasks to enjoy historic musical song, Civil War Era dancing and sweet delicacies furnished by Geneva on the Lake Resort, prepared especially for you by Chef Ryan Abbey.

*The music is brought to us by a stringed quartet named ‘Ginger Majority’, composed of four young ladies from the Kanack School of Music in Rochester.

*A Ladies Cake-Dance and a Chinese Auction are sponsored by the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

*Joe Hy Photography will be set up to take your photo as a memory of this historic event for an extra fee.

*At the Ball, a Dance Caller ~ David Abbey ~ will teach every step of each dance before the dance begins and then will call out the steps as the dance progresses. No prior experience is necessary.

*This is a formal historic event where 1860’s dress is highly encouraged – both Union and Southern portrayals are welcome. If you do not have Civil War dress or Civil War Military Regalia, you are welcome to come in formal attire – ladies in long dresses or skirts; men in shirt and tie with a vest.

*White gloves for all dancers are required.  Some will be available at the door for borrow or to buy.

*This is a family event; however guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent.  All younger children must be watched and cared for by their parents.

*To keep with our historic feel and authenticity; we would ask that all cell phones be holstered for this event.  Thank you.

*Tickets may be purchased ahead of the date for $8.00 per person, by calling Debra Abbey at 607-869-2067.  We will let you know of more opportunities to purchase tickets ahead of the Ball at other locations in Waterloo.  On the evening of the Ball, the tickets will be $10.00 per person at the door. The fee for children ages 8 – 12 will be $5.00.

This is guaranteed to be one of the more memorable events that you will ever come to, as we celebrate and remember 150 years since the end of the Civil War and the beginning of Memorial Day.
